![]() So I’m going to bring my low filter point at around, let’s go to seven, around seven K and bring the high part at around 12. The recording, the mic, the position of the mic, but it’s usually within that range of frequency. Depends if it’s we’re talking about a male vocalist or a female vocalist, it depends on a lot of factors. And usually when we’re talking about the S’s and T’s, those type of sounds, we’re talking about higher frequencies, somewhere around six K to 10 or so, sometimes higher. ![]() First, what I’m going to do here is to evaluate which frequency range is giving me those problems. So I don’t know if you heard those, but we have a bunch of little T’s and S’s that are kind of annoying and listen to the chorus.Īnd on this part, we can even notice the S that is way out of control, the one on the word. First, let’s have a quick listen to the track we’re going to work on today and just focus on those little sounds that we have, like the T’s the S’s that we have on this vocal.Īll right. Right here we have that de-esser so if you love to work with the channel strip, you’re all covered. So we also have the version of the de-esser straight in the channel strip. But for this video, I’m going to focus on the technique itself and work with the de-esser that we have included in Cubase. My go-to plugins as far as de-essers goes, is our user lead, the FabFilter Pro De-ess and the UAD Precision De-esser that I love to work with. Now you can use any de-esser plugins you want. And the first way we can do this in Cubase is by using the de-esser plugin. So that’s why we need to keep them under control. ![]() And those sounds can be very annoying in the mix. Now, when we’re talking about the de-essing of vocal we’re talking about getting under control some sounds that we have on a vocal like T’s, S’s and some harshness that can pop out of the vocal when we add processing like EQ, compression, saturation and so on.
